Conditions Necessitating Zakah On Grains And Fruits:
  1. Nesab Zakat : 675 Kg
  2. that which has been irrigated by the skies (rain) and streams or that which is ‘athariyy[ Athariyy: One which is self-irrigated either through its roots, rain, floodwater or streams], one-tenth is paid, and as for that which was irrigated by An-Nadh, half of one-tenth is paid.
  3. It should be stored goods:
If it is not something which is stored, but used for daily consumption, no Zakah is payable on such. This is because the money value of unstored produce cannot be realized due to the inability of benefitting from such financially.
  4. It should be measurable in Wasqs
    • It should be among the products that are usually weighed in Wasqs. Wasqs are units of measure. This is drawn from the Prophet’s statement ﷺ: “There is no Zakah on grains or dates until such items weigh five Wasqs[ One Wasq: Sixty Sa’].” [Muslim]
    • If it is not part of that which is usually weighed (in Wasqs) e.g. vegetables and herbs, then Zakah is not due on it.
  5. It should be grown for the purpose of cultivation and production on agriculture farms: However, Zakah is not due on subsistence farms.
  6. It should reach the amount of the Nisab, which is five Wasqs, as evidenced from the Prophet’s statement ﷺ: “There is no Zakah on grains or dates until such items weigh five Wasqs.” [Muslim]

Rule :
- You must own 40 animal .
- livestock : camels, cows or sheep/goats . neither male or female is specified .
- One-year-old Bull-Calf or Two-year-old Cow-Calf. - Lapse of a full Hijra year while the animals are with the owner. - It must be grazed livestock. A grazed camel is that which is fed by eating from plants of the earth and permissible grass i.e. that which grows by Allah’s command without being cultivated by anybody. However, if it feeds on cultivated crops; then it is not regarded as a grazed camel and Zakah is not due on it. - It must be kept for some benefit, either from its milk or offspring, and not used as a working camel. A working camel is that which is employed by its owner to till or irrigate the land, carry goods or lift loads. - Zakah is not payable on a working camel, because they are counted as part of the basic needs of man, like clothing. If it is rented / hired to others, Zakah is due on whatever rent is derived from it (after a Hijri year has lapsed on it). - The cattle must attain the Nisab prescribed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
